Groningen, Netherlands

Size: 400 m2 I Performance: 53.000 kWh I Client: Municipality of Groningen, Making City EU

We built Europe’s new solar footpath in the Netherlands as part of the European Union’s Making City program. The yearly energy production is 53.000 kWh and equals to 18 Dutch average households’ yearly energy need. The project aims to create Positive Energy Districts (PED) through innovative technologies. The 400 square meters of PLATIO solar pavers are helping to achieve these goals by supplying the town hall with clean energy, bringing the city closer to becoming carbon neutral by 2035.

Together with Rollin and Kuube, we have developed a unique micromobility solution: a micromobility station with green energy and smart features. PLATIO’s solar pavers charge electric scooters waiting at Rollin’ charging stations with solar energy. And the Kuube smart bench complements this with smart features (wifi, phone charging, music) and a social experience for users. The result is clean, cost-effective, energy-efficient transport in cities.

Budapest, Hungary

From 2022, Lapker Zrt. will be using the PLATIO solar-powered robotic lawnmower charging system to maintain the garden at its headquarters.  This off-grid system consists of 42 PLATIO solar pavers and charges the charging station of the robotic lawnmower with solar energy.  So gardening is truly green. The system is suitable for any robotic lawnmower. Suitable for installation in well-watered, grassy areas, parks and gardens, it is also an excellent choice for smart cities.

Gárdony, Hungary

In 2019, the first pilot project for building bicycle roads with PLATIO off-grid solution near the town Gárdony, in Western Hungary. The goal was to rebuild a busy asphalt bicycle road with photovoltaic solar tiles powering public lighting.

Barcelona, Spain

Size: 56 m2 I Performance: 9 kWp I Client: Barcelona City Council

In 2021, one of our most impressive public installation was commissioned by the Barcelona City Council to place 56m2 of PLATIO solar pavement in the Glòries park, where an electric bike charging station will be powered by PLATIO. This off-grid solution will help the city in its attempt of becoming carbon neutral.

Füzesabony, Hungary

Size: 135.4 m2 I Performance: 2,6 kWp és 2,1 kWp I Client: Municipality of Füzesabony

Two PLATIO solar systems are now supporting Füzesabony’s efforts towards energy efficiency. Around the bus stop in the heart of the town, 125 and 105 pieces of PLATIO solar pavement are covering the walkway. The on-grid system supplies the building’s air conditioning system with green energy, providing pleasant weather for those waiting in the waiting area. The 105-piece off-grid solar PV system provides solar power to 5 smart benches where the community can charge their phones, moving closer to a smart city status.

Barcelona, Spain

At the entrance of Westfield la Maquinista, Barcelona’s largest shopping centre, you will find the first PLATIO powered scooter charger! The PLATIO pavers charge the scooters waiting at the Yupcity charging station with solar energy. Our first micromobility project aims to make public transport sustainable by charging electric scooters with clean energy.

Kalkara, malta

Size: 25 m2 I Performance: 4,1 kWp I Client: Municipality of Kalkara

In 2022, with the help of PLATIO pavers, the first carbon-neutral park opened in Malta. The Rinella park in Kalkara is unique because the energy supply is fully covered by renewable energy sources. The 25 sqm long PLATIO solar pavement generates electricity for the lighting and irrigation system of the park. The Eco project was carried out by the local municipality, the Ministry of Environment of Malta with Alternative Energies Ltd.

Teesdorf, AUSTRIA

Size: 100 m2 I Performance: 16,27 kW I Client: Municipality of Teesdorf 

Austria’s first solar parking lot was realized in cooperation with students of the FH Technikum Wien, where 780 solar pavers were installed in a 100-square-metre car park. The installation in Teesdorf supplies the university building with green energy, but also has the capacity to supply three average family houses with energy per year!

In 2019, a 2.3 m2 solar pavement was installed in the city centre of Budapest, Hungary. The solar paving system powers a citylight poster independently from the grid.

Rapallo, Italy

Size: 2.7 m2 I Performance: 0.38 kWp I Client: Trenitalia

Since 2018, PLATIO’s solar paver has been powering the rest area on the roof terrace of Rapallo railway station, where travellers can easily charge their phones at any time using the solar bench.

Városliget, Hungary

Size: 3 m2 I Performance: 0.5 kWp I Client: City of Budapest

In 2019, we installed 3 solar pavements, each covering 1 m2, in the environment of Városliget. The solar pavers power mobile charging stations equipped on benches near a playground.

In 2017, a 3.01 m2 large system was installed in the city centre of Budapest, Hungary. We integrated PLATIO solar modules in the surfaces of outdoor furnitures to provide off-grid power sources for mobile devices.
