New corporate direction: carbon-neutrality
Several large international and domestic companies have already taken important steps to make their operation “green“. But what does it mean to go green? Recently, it no longer just means a company’s commitment to becoming sustainable. Global warming brings important environmental changes and the pressing global climate change agendas. Companies are also being forced to reduce their CO2 emissions, hence stepping on the path to carbon neutrality. In pursuit of this goal, many companies have invested heavily in green energy production, which they use directly or indirectly in their operations. These investments have been made for numerous reasons in addition to carbon neutrality, which we summarise below (but not exhaustively):
- Operating costs can be significantly reduced with free green electricity,
- The investing firm can gain a competitive advantage over its competitors by reducing production and service costs and making extra profit,
- CO2 quotas and special taxes imposed on companies can be significantly reduced,
- It reflects positively on a company’s corporate image, and there is also considerable marketing value in going green, or becoming carbon neutral. A greener approach also helps companies in their corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities,
- They can set an example for other companies.
Many well-known, large companies have recognized the importance of clean energy and have replaced fossil energy with green energy. Check out the TOP 50 companies using the greenest energy
And there are international multinational companies such as IKEA and Google, who have already achieved net-zero carbon emissions since 2020. This is thanks to their renewable energy power plants around the world. And these power generation units are mostly solar-powered.
PLATIO solar paver helping companies reaching carbon-neutrality
Not all companies have the option to buy green energy or to operate solar parks on the roofs of their buildings and properties. Thus, PLATIO solar pavers can be an ideal solution for companies, as it is not only a practical but also an aesthetic alternative. Thanks to PLATIO solar pavement, businesses can increase the proportion of clean energy in their energy mix on their properties by using a sustainable and energy-generating building material for parking lots, pavement surfaces, roof terraces, flat roofs, or even parks. Such investments provide clean energy for the buildings, the technologies that power them, or even the electric vehicles that charge on-site.
For companies on the path to carbon neutrality and sustainability, PLATIO solar pavement is the ideal solution in more ways than one:
- Give additional functionality to the passive surfaces around the company’s buildings,
- Installation is possible in a wide range of locations: in a car park, on a roof terrace, next to a building, or even in a garden,
- The solar pavement generates the energy to power the building and the technology that runs it,
- A practical and aesthetic solution for achieving a reduced carbon footprint,
- A fast-return and cost-effective investment as opposed to buying CO2 allowances to achieve net-zero emissions,
- Has a prestige value, improves the image of the company. Also it can be well communicated in the market as a CSR activity, which can also give the company a competitive advantage,
- Solar pavers can be easily placed around new and existing buildings,
- The company and its employees will be able to charge their electric transport devices (scooters, bicycles, cars) free of charge by integrating an electric charger. This could increase satisfaction with the employer.
Solar pavers can therefore be installed anywhere around the property where there is sufficient sunlight around the building. As its installation does not require any complicated structural modifications, these energy-generating pavers are suitable for existing properties.
We now have several examples of green companies that have been using PLATIO solar pavement for years:
- Our German reseller partner, Faboro GmbH replaced the normal pavers with solar pavers in front of their office building. The solar pavement supplies the building with green energy,
- Graphisoft park, and Market Zrt. mow the office garden with the robotic lawnmowers. PLATIO solar pavers power these automatic machines.
- Hungarian logistics center, Prologis Zrt. charges its electric cars in the parking lot with an EV charging station. This receives green energy from PLATIO solar pavement.
